Kelli Stapleton Found Competent To Stand Trial in Attempted Murder of Autistic Daugther Issy

The mother who attempted to murder who young daughter with Autism has been found competent to stand trial for her actions.  A state employed psychologist found Kelli Stapleton who attempted to murder who her daughter Issy Stapleton competent to stand trial.   Even her own defence attorney Heidi Hodek was not surprised due to her conversations with her.

Kelli Stapleton’s defense requested the review by the state forensic center. Defense lawyer Heidi Hodek tells the Traverse City Record-Eagle she didn’t find the result surprising, based on her conversations with Stapleton.

According to NBC25 a hearing was set for today on the psychologists findings.

  1. The correct result. I am autistic and find it abhorrent that people have been attempting to “excuse” this woman trying to murder her own flesh and blood because taking care of Issy was “so hard.” (Attempted) Murder is (attempted) murder.

  2. I am so happy that this woman is going to trial, maybe this will shed more light on the way parents are taking care of these autistic children, even the schools are not doing what they should for the kids. Maybe there should be more on keeping a better eye on these parents to make sure they have loving homes and not just parents that put up with taking care of them. Maybe more of them need to be removed from the parents if they are not in a safe home.
